Electric Separation

Another method of dissociating oxygen from water is electrolysis. It is the process of splitting water to produce hydrogen and oxygen. It's simple enough for anyone to do.

The process is easy, you just have to arrange for electricity to pass through water between two electrodes. In 1820 electrolysis was first formulated by Michael Faraday.

The chemical equation: energy (electricity) + 2 H2O ->  O2  + 2 H2
